SUGGESTED DIET

Eating

After the placement of dental implants, you will need to slightly change your diet for a certain periode as specified by your surgeon. This period may vary from two to twelve weeks.

Important recommendations:

Do not consume anything hot for the first 24 hours after surgery.

Do not wear your denture during meals. Too much pressure exerted by the denture impede the integration of the implants.

To help you plan your meals, here are some examples of menus prepared by the nutrition department of the Enfant-Jésus Hospital of Quebec in collaboration with the department of oral and maxillofacial surgery of this institution.

1 celery stalk
250 ml (1 cup) chicken broth
1 cup (250 mL) warm, enriched whole milk

Salt and pepper

In a large saucepan, soften the onion in the butter over medium heat. Add broth, carrots and potatoes. Bring to a boil.
Cover and simmer gently for about 20 minutes or until vegetables are tender. In the blender, reduce the soup to a smooth purée. Salt and pepper.

Enriched whole milk
1 liter (4 cups) of milk at 3.25% fat
1 cup (250 mL) milk powder
Mix well and refrigerate.
We suggest using this enriched milk recipe to increase the nutritional value of the recipes. It will be better if it is prepared in advance and cooled.

Whipped milk
125 ml (1/2 cup) enriched whole milk
1/2 cup (125 mL) vanilla ice cream

** In this basic recipe, you can let your imagination go to create a flavor to your taste by adding your favorite ingredient (fruit, nuts, vegetables, maple syrup, honey …)
